Jeddah - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned the suicide attacks carried out on a crowded market in Biu town, northeastern Nigeria when two female suicide bombers detonated their explosives on Saturday that led to the death of up to 16 people and injuring dozens of others.
In expressing his disgust over the attack, the secretary general said the method used by the suicide bombers was an indication of the desperation of the terrorist group to continue causing fear and distrust among the society and also to inflict maximum harm on innocent people.
Dr. Al-Othaimeen extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the people and government of Nigeria over this tragedy and urged the government to intensify efforts in curbing the menace of terrorism and to bring all those responsible for this reprehensible act to justice.
Further, the OIC chief reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
