PSE Market Summary: Indices Rise Amidst High Turnover

Karachi, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSE) witnessed an increase in major indices on 25 Oct 2023. The KSE-30 index saw a net change of 40.59, raising the index to 17537.09. Similarly, the KSE-100 index reached 51177.13, marking an increase of 149.19. The KSE-ALLSHR and KMI-30 indices also saw gains, registering at 34005.83 and 86855.09 respectively. In contrast, the OGTi index experienced a decrease of 0.63% or 76.94 points, setting the index at 12226.57.

The turnover for the day was 427,393,948 with a trading value of 15,509,400,411. This marked an increase from the previous day's turnover of 321,403,857 with a trading value of 11,091,620,301.

Key Companies Reflect Significant Turnover

Among the companies reflecting substantial turnover, WorldCall Telecom topped the list with a turnover of 80,693,963. Its rate increased from an opening of 1.29 to a closing of 1.38. Bank of Punjab and Fauji Cement also saw significant turnovers, with B.O.Punjab's rate rising to 4.36 and Fauji Cement climbing to 13.59.

Other notable companies include Oil and Gas Dev.XD, K-Electric Ltd., Pak Refinery, P.S.O.XD, Hub Power Co.XD, Maple Leaf, and JS Bank Ltd.

Nestle Pakistan and Sanofi-Aventis marked the highest increase in their rates, with Nestle Pakistan rising by 100.00 to close at 7300.00 and Sanofi-Aventis climbing by 60.67, closing at 869.61. On the other hand, Unilever Foods experienced a significant decrease, dropping by 1000.00 and closing at 21000.00. Bhanero Tex.XD also saw a drop, decreasing by 34.00 and concluding at 925.00.

In the future contract segment, WorldCall Telecom (WTL-NOV) witnessed a turnover of 20,321,000 with its rate rising to 1.41. K-Electric Ltd.'s October and November contracts (KEL-OCT and KEL-NOV) also had notable turnovers, settling at rates of 3.25 and 3.30 respectively.
