Commencement of Tight Gas Production at Nur West Well-1 by OGDCL

Karachi: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announces the start of early commercial production of Tight Gas from Nur West Well-1, situated in the Sujawal district of Sindh Province. The project marks a significant step in enhancing Pakistan's gas supply infrastructure.

On August 08, 2024, OGDCL, holding a 100% working interest in the Nur Development & Production Lease (D&PL), reported that the well is currently yielding 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas with a wellhead flowing pressure of 1050 PSI. The gas is extracted from the Lower Guru formation, specifically the 'A' Sand layer, and has been successfully integrated into the network of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).

The journey to this achievement involved drilling the Nur West #01 well to a depth of 2,975 meters. Initially, the well encountered a tight formation where conventional testing methods were unsuccessful. However, the application of hydraulic fracturing techniques facilitated the extraction of gas, thereby proving the viability of the project for production purposes.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL has also developed a roadmap for Tight Gas exploration and development. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to addressing the energy needs of the nation while fostering sustainable development across the region.

This announcement aligns with the requirements of Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1(a) of PSX Regulations, ensuring that the stakeholders are well-informed of the developments.
