Multiple Companies Report Loss of Share Certificates on Pakistan Stock Exchange

Karachi: Several companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) have reported the loss of share certificates, affecting a broad spectrum of shareholders. The companies involved include Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, Attock Petroleum Limited, Faysal Bank Limited, Mehran Sugar Mills Limited, Cherat Cement Company Limited, and Habib Bank Limited. The loss of these certificates poses a risk of unauthorized transactions, prompting immediate regulatory notices.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the exchange has advised its members not to engage in any transactions involving these lost certificates. The notification seeks to prevent any potential market manipulation or fraudulent activities that could arise from the misuse of these documents.

The companies have provided a window of seven days for any objections to be filed concerning the lost certificates. If no objections are received within this period, duplicate certificates will be issued to the affected shareholders. This measure is intended to safeguard shareholder interests and ensure the continuity of legitimate trading activities.

This collective incident underscores the importance of rigorous tracking and management of physical share certificates within the financial markets to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
