Karachi: In a recent notice issued by the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) dated October 22, 2024, several companies were highlighted for their failure to comply with specific PSX regulations. The companies listed have not adhered to the rules concerning the holding of Annual General Meetings (AGM) and the non-submission of Annual Audited Financial Statements for the year ended June 30, 2023.
The notice named six companies specifically: Dewan Mushtaq Textile Mills Limited, Hira Textile Mills Limited, Sitara Peroxide Limited, Huffaz Seamless Pipe Industries Limited, Dewan Khalid Textile Mills Limited, and Globe Textile Mills Limited. These companies have violated various subsections of PSX Regulations 5.1.1.1, which concern the timely submission of financial statements and the regular holding of AGMs.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the deadline for these companies to hold their AGM and submit their audited financial statements is set for October 28, 2024. Failure to meet these requirements within two consecutive years may lead to the suspension of trading under PSX Regulations 5.1.1.1(b) and (c). Additionally, companies already under suspension, such as those at serial numbers 5 and 6, could be moved to a 'Non-Compliant' or 'Winding-up Segment' if they remain delinquent.
The compliance notice also highlights potential legal actions against these companies, including winding-up petitions already filed by creditors or the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). These actions underscore the regulatory framework within which companies listed on the PSX must operate to maintain transparency and protect investor interests.
All relevant parties, including regulatory bodies and company auditors, have been notified as stakeholders in the compliance process. The ongoing monitoring and enforcement of these regulations reflect PSX's commitment to upholding market integrity.
