Karachi: Sindh Modaraba Management Limited (SMML) has demonstrated notable growth in its financial performance over the past five years, according to its latest corporate briefing session. The company has consistently increased its total assets, equity, and profits, reflecting robust financial health and operational efficiency.
In 2024, SMML reported a total asset value of Rs 1,938.20 million, an increase from Rs 1,778.23 million in 2023. The company's total equity also saw a significant rise, reaching Rs 1,867.31 million in 2024 compared to Rs 1,722.37 million in the previous year. This growth can be attributed to an increase in reserves, which climbed from Rs 272.37 million in 2023 to Rs 417.31 million in 2024.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), SMML's financing portfolio has shifted slightly, with figures standing at Rs 791.72 million in 2024, down from Rs 919.47 million in 2023. However, the company's current assets have increased significantly during the same period, from Rs 1,280.81 million to Rs 1,516.52 million.
The company's profitability metrics have also shown impressive growth. SMML's revenue in 2024 was Rs 407.34 million, a substantial increase from Rs 279.66 million in 2023. Net profit after tax followed a similar trajectory, rising from Rs 130.41 million in 2023 to Rs 201.33 million in 2024. This surge in profitability has resulted in an earnings per certificate of Rs 4.47 in 2024, up from Rs 2.90 in 2023.
SMML's return on assets and return on equity percentages in 2024 stood at 10.83% and 11.22% respectively, indicating efficient management and effective use of equity. These figures represent an improvement over the 7.53% and 7.74% reported in 2023.
The price of SMML’s certificates on the PSX has also reflected positive investor sentiments, with the closing price reaching Rs 10.31 in 2024, up from Rs 8.03 in 2023.
