Kohat Cement Reports Strong Quarterly Profits; No Dividend Announced

Karachi: Kohat Cement Company Limited revealed robust earnings for the quarter ending September 30, 2024, during its board meeting held on October 24, 2024, at its head office in Lahore. The directors reviewed the financial results which showcased a significant increase in profitability compared to the previous year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company generated net sales of Rs. 10,083.70 million, reflecting a strong performance with a gross profit of Rs. 4,313.54 million. This marks a notable improvement in operational efficiency, with the gross profit margin notably higher than the Rs. 3,229.22 million recorded in the same quarter last year.

The meeting detailed that despite the stronger financial performance, the board decided against issuing any cash dividends, bonus shares, or rights shares for the period. This decision aligns with the company's strategic focus on reinvestment and capital preservation amid ongoing market fluctuations.

Operating expenses and administrative costs were tightly managed, though they presented a significant outlay at Rs. 508.66 million combined. The company achieved an operating profit of Rs. 3,804.66 million, significantly up from Rs. 2,836.96 million in the year-ago period.

After accounting for finance costs and taxation, the net profit for the quarter stood at Rs. 3,438.86 million, a sharp increase from Rs. 2,229.40 million in the previous year, with earnings per share rising to Rs. 17.56 from Rs. 11.25.
