Century Insurance Reports Strong Quarterly Financials Amid Market Challenges

Karachi: Century Insurance Company Limited has announced a significant performance in its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2024, amidst a complex insurance market landscape.

The company reported a net insurance premium of PKR 325.05 million for the quarter, up from PKR 303.25 million in the same period last year. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this growth comes despite the insurance sector facing numerous challenges including increased claims and operational costs.

Net insurance claims for the quarter rose to PKR 182.82 million, a marked increase from PKR 134.45 million last year, highlighting the rising cost pressures on the industry. Similarly, management expenses surged to PKR 109.09 million, up from PKR 99.72 million.

Despite these costs, the company's underwriting results remained strong, posting a profit of PKR 52.67 million compared to PKR 87.52 million last year. This was supported by robust investment income of PKR 109.11 million, up from PKR 116.76 million, and other income totaling PKR 27.25 million.

The results of operating activities indicated a profit of PKR 186.50 million for the quarter, showcasing the company's strong operational capabilities in a fluctuating market. The company’s comprehensive strategy to manage costs and optimize investment returns played a pivotal role in achieving these results.

For the nine-month period, the company also reported impressive gains with a net profit after tax of PKR 420.67 million, significantly higher than the PKR 317.99 million reported in the previous year. The earnings per share also saw a substantial increase to PKR 7.60 from PKR 5.75.
