Islamabad: PIA Holding Company Limited has formally applied for an extension to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the financial year ending December 31, 2024. The company has approached the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for a 30-day extension, allowing the meeting to be postponed until May 30, 2025, according to a statement issued on March 27, 2025.
PIA Holding Company Limited, which was incorporated on March 21, 2024, is required under Section 132 of the Companies Act, 2017, and Regulation 31 of the Companies Regulations, 2024, to conduct its AGM by April 30, 2025. However, the company has cited pending completion of its financial audit as the reason for the requested delay. The management anticipates finalizing the financial statements during the week of April 21, 2025.
The company's external auditors have issued a certificate, reference number BAS/C462/25/0324, dated March 24, 2025, confirming the state of the accounts and the reasons for the audit delay. The application for the extension includes the certificate, an affidavit verified by the Company Secretary, and proof of the PKR 15,025 application fee paid to the SECP.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), PIA Holding Company Limited has committed to submitting the SECP's approval for the extension to the exchange within 48 hours of receipt. The company emphasizes its intent to comply with regulatory requirements and ensure transparency in its operations.
The application is also accompanied by documents sent to the Joint Registrar of Companies, CRO, Islamabad, in compliance with Regulation 65 of the Companies Regulations. The company has expressed gratitude to the SECP for its ongoing support and guidance amid this procedural request.
