GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Reports Significant Profit Growth for Q1 2025

Karachi: GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, revealing a substantial increase in profitability. The company's Board of Directors met virtually on April 25, 2025, to approve the results, which indicated a significant rise in profit compared to the same period last year.

The pharmaceutical company's revenue from contracts with customers reached 15.58 billion rupees for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, showing a slight decrease from the 15.62 billion rupees reported for the same period in 2024. However, the cost of sales declined notably from 13.35 billion rupees in 2024 to 10.25 billion rupees in 2025, resulting in a gross profit of 5.33 billion rupees, up from 2.27 billion rupees the previous year.

Operating profit also witnessed remarkable growth, increasing to 3.63 billion rupees from 1.01 billion rupees in 2024. The company reported a profit before income tax of 3.52 billion rupees, compared to 959.91 million rupees in the previous year's first quarter.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's net taxation for the quarter was recorded at 1.39 billion rupees, up from 394.62 million rupees in the same period last year. This resulted in a profit after taxation of 2.13 billion rupees for the first quarter of 2025, a significant increase from the 565.28 million rupees recorded in the prior year.

Earnings per share for the first quarter of 2025 stood at 6.68 rupees, a substantial rise from the 1.78 rupees per share in the first quarter of 2024. Despite the financial gains, the Board of Directors declared no cash dividends, bonus shares, or right shares for the period, maintaining an emphasis on corporate sustainability and growth.

The financial statements for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, are scheduled to be transmitted through the Pakistan Unified Corporate Action Reporting System (PUCARS) in due course.
