D S Industries Limited Reports Financial Losses Amid Decline in Sales and Profits

Lahore: D S Industries Limited has reported its financial results for the period ending March 31, 2025, revealing a significant downturn in both sales and profits. The Board of Directors, in a meeting at the company's registered office in Lahore, announced that no cash dividends, bonus shares, or right shares would be distributed.

For the nine months ending March 31, 2025, the company reported sales of 3.60 million, a steep decline from 23.76 million recorded in the same period last year. The cost of sales rose to 3.79 million from 16.92 million, leading to a gross loss of 194,167 compared to a gross profit of 6.84 million in the previous year.

Administrative, selling, and other expenses stood at 10.44 million, a decrease from 20.45 million. This resulted in an operating loss of 1.41 million, compared to an operating profit of 382,819 in the previous year. Finance costs increased to 577,267 from 276,859.

The share of profit from an associate significantly rose to 7.22 million from 774,779 in the previous period, providing some relief to the financial statements. However, profit before taxation was reported at 5.24 million, compared to 880,739 last year. Taxation was down to 44,947 from 297,000, resulting in a profit after taxation of 5.19 million, up from 583,739.

In the quarterly performance, sales were reported at 510,274, a decline from 7.49 million during the same quarter last year. The gross loss for the quarter was reported at 114,662, contrasting with a gross profit of 1.73 million a year earlier. The company experienced an operating loss of 1.18 million in the quarter, compared to a loss of 542,088 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), D S Industries' finance costs for the quarter stood at 9,143, a decrease from 111,834. The share of loss from an associate was 1.38 million, compared to a loss of 668,456 previously. This led to a profit before taxation loss of 2.56 million, compared to a loss of 1.32 million a year ago. The quarterly taxation was 6,378, down from 93,619, resulting in a net loss of 2.57 million after taxation, compared to a loss of 1.42 million in the corresponding period last year.

Earnings per share for the nine months were reported at 0.06, up from 0.01 last year. For the quarter, the earnings per share were reported at a loss of 0.03, compared to a loss of 0.02 in the previous year. The company is categorized under the industrial sector in the designated market category.
