Karachi: Arpak International Investments Ltd. has disclosed its financial performance for the quarter and nine-month period ending March 31, 2025, revealing a substantial decline in earnings compared to the previous year. The company's board of directors approved the financial statements during a meeting held on April 28, 2025.
For the quarter ending March 31, 2025, the company reported income of 2.69 million rupees, a significant decrease from the 5.77 million rupees recorded in the same period the previous year. Operating and general expenses for the quarter rose to 3.88 million rupees, up from 3.29 million rupees, resulting in an operating loss of 1.19 million rupees compared to a profit of 2.47 million rupees in the first quarter of 2024.
The company's share of profit or loss from associated companies, net of taxation, showed a substantial loss of 52.34 million rupees, a turnaround from a profit of 6.72 million rupees in the prior year. This was compounded by a provision for impairment in investment in an associated company, which amounted to 6.60 million rupees, compared to 4.51 million rupees last year.
The loss before taxation and final tax levies stood at 46.92 million rupees, a stark contrast to the profit of 13.70 million rupees in the same quarter of 2024. After accounting for taxation, the net loss for the quarter amounted to 47.39 million rupees, compared to a profit of 13.32 million rupees the previous year. The loss per share was reported at 11.85 rupees, compared to earnings of 3.33 rupees per share in the first quarter of 2024.
For the nine-month period ending March 31, 2025, Arpak International Investments reported income of 8.89 million rupees, a decline from 17.84 million rupees in the same period of the previous year. Operating and general expenses increased to 11.82 million rupees from 10.35 million rupees, leading to an operating loss of 2.94 million rupees, compared to a profit of 7.49 million rupees in 2024.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's share of profit or loss from associated companies, net of taxation, was a loss of 279.91 million rupees, compared to a profit of 66.54 million rupees in the prior year. The provision made for impairment in investment in an associated company totaled 184.34 million rupees, a reversal from a negative provision of 279.57 million rupees in 2024.
The loss before taxation for the nine-month period was reported at 98.51 million rupees, a significant improvement from a loss of 206.09 million rupees in the previous year. After accounting for tax, the net loss amounted to 98.48 million rupees, compared to a loss of 206.88 million rupees in the same period last year. The loss per share for the nine-month period was 24.62 rupees, a decrease from a loss of 51.72 rupees per share in 2024.
