Crescent Jute Products Ltd Reports Increased Loss Amid Asset Disposal and Litigation

Lahore: Crescent Jute Products Ltd has reported an increase in losses for the nine months ending March 31, 2025. The company's financial results revealed a loss of 5.82 million rupees, up from 5.52 million rupees in the same period of 2024. This downturn is attributed primarily to the cost of maintaining the minimum staff required to manage corporate and financial affairs.

The management is currently executing a closure plan approved by the Board of Directors and shareholders, which involves two major components: the disposal of assets and the formulation of a future business plan. According to Crescent Jute Products Ltd, all payments related to the asset disposal have been received.

Despite settling liabilities with the Bank of Punjab, Crescent Jute Products Ltd lacks sufficient surplus funds to proceed with the future business plan approved by shareholders in October 2011. The company is also engaged in ongoing litigation with Crescent Standard Modaraba over outstanding claims, complicating its financial situation.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Crescent Jute Products Ltd is exploring alternative funding options to settle remaining liabilities. However, the company currently lacks the necessary funds to implement its future business strategy. Any potential opportunities for funding will be presented to shareholders for approval.

In the interim, Crescent Jute Products Ltd remains focused on strict cost controls, early settlement of legal cases, and efforts to minimize expenses. The designated market category for the company remains under scrutiny as it navigates these financial challenges.
