Mandatory Disclosure of Gender Pay Gap Data Required for All Listed Companies in Pakistan

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced a continuation of its mandate requiring all listed companies to disclose gender pay gap data in their annual reports and on their websites. This initiative is in accordance with Circular No. 10 of 2024 issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and aims to enhance transparency and foster gender equality in the corporate sector.

The directive follows several notices from the PSX, including PKUN-1140 dated November 26, 2024, PSX/N-072 dated January 13, 2025, PSX/N-174 dated February 11, 2025, and PSX/N-358 dated April 07, 2025. These notices underscore the importance of compliance with the gender pay gap reporting requirements set forth by the SECP.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), companies are required to utilize a specific template provided by the SECP for reporting purposes. The publication of this data is essential for promoting transparency and advancing gender equality and diversity within Pakistan's corporate environment. The initiative also aligns with the Prime Minister's Women Empowerment Package (PM-WEP) 2024.

Failure to comply with these requirements, or the submission of incomplete data, may lead to enforcement actions by the SECP. Listed companies are urged to adhere strictly to the mandate to avoid potential penalties.

This measure falls under the designated market category of regulatory compliance, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure fair and transparent corporate practices in Pakistan.
