Lucky Cement Limited Advances Clinker Production Line in Iraq

Karachi: Lucky Cement Limited has announced the successful firing of a new clinker production line at its joint venture facility, Najmat Al-Samawah (NAS), located in Samawah, Iraq. The development is part of the company's ongoing expansion efforts aimed at enhancing its presence in the Iraqi market.

According to a disclosure in compliance with Sections 96 and 131 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Regulation 5.6.1 of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) Regulations, the new clinker line boasts a capacity of 1.82 million tons per annum. This milestone was achieved on May 13, 2025, as stated in the company's latest announcement.

In addition to the clinker line, Lucky Cement is also constructing a cement grinding plant at NAS, which will have a production capacity of 0.65 million tons per annum. The construction of this facility is progressing rapidly, with commissioning expected in the first half of the fiscal year 2026. This expansion will allow the company to increase its cement supply to the local Iraqi market and market surplus clinker domestically.

Upon completion of these projects, Lucky Cement Limited's consolidated production capacities will reach 21.48 million tons per annum across its domestic and international operations. The company's facilities are strategically located in Pezu and Karachi, Pakistan; the Democratic Republic of Congo; and Basra and Samawah in Iraq.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these developments are in line with Lucky Cement's strategic focus on entrepreneurship and diversification. The company aims to enhance the quality of its earnings and maximize shareholder value through a diversified business portfolio that includes sectors such as automobiles, chemicals and agricultural sciences, mobile phone assembly, energy, and mining.
