Faisalabad: Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited has announced the uncontested election of directors at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EoGM) scheduled for May 23, 2025. The meeting will be held in Faisalabad, with simultaneous video conferencing, as per the guidelines of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
In compliance with Section 159(4) of the Companies Act, 2017, the company has published notices in Daily Pakistan Observer and Daily Pakistan on May 16, 2025, informing members about the election. Seven candidates have submitted their intention to contest for the positions, corresponding exactly to the number of board seats available. Consequently, the following individuals will be appointed for a three-year term without an election: Simon Michael Gwyn Jennings, Ahmed Ashraf Mukaty, Asad Shahid Soorty, Lain Ashraf Mukaty, Saleem Parekh, Hamida Salim Mukaty, and Irfan Zakaria.
The company has appointed Mis Riaz Ahmad and Company, Chartered Accountants, to scrutinize nomination papers in alignment with the Companies (Postal Ballot) Regulations, 2018. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the nominees' papers have been validated, confirming their eligibility under the regulations.
Among the elected directors, Saleem Parekh and Irfan Zakaria have submitted declarations of independence as per Section 166 of the Companies Act, 2017. Their status as Independent Directors will be subject to the board's evaluation and confirmation, guided by the criteria outlined in the Companies (Manner and Selection of Independent Directors) Regulations, 2018.
