United Bank Limited’s CEO Increases Stake Through Providus Capital Purchases

Karachi: United Bank Limited (UBL) has seen a notable increase in its shareholding composition following recent transactions executed by Providus Capital (Pvt) Limited, an entity associated with the bank's President and CEO, Mr. Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal. The transactions were disclosed in a formal notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.

According to the disclosure, Providus Capital acquired a total of 4.30 million shares in two separate transactions conducted on July 1 and July 2, 2025. The purchases were executed at different price points, with an initial acquisition of 300,000 shares at a rate of 281.02 per share, followed by a more substantial purchase of 4,000,000 shares at 302.22 per share. These transactions have led to a cumulative shareholding of 110.02 million shares, representing 4.39% of the total shares of United Bank Limited.

The transactions mark a Big move in the ownership stakes held by Providus Capital in UBL. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the transactions were classified under the 'Ready' market category, indicating their immediate execution and settlement.

This strategic move by Mr. Iqbal signals a strengthened position and increased influence within United Bank Limited, as the cumulative percentage of shares held by Providus Capital has risen from 4.23% to 4.39%. The disclosure of these transactions is part of the regulatory requirements for transparency and compliance with market practices, ensuring stakeholders are informed of significant changes in shareholding structures.
