United Bank Limited’s CEO-Linked Firm Acquires 1 Million Shares

Karachi: Providus Capital (Pvt) Limited, an associate firm of Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal, the President and CEO of United Bank Limited (UBL), has significantly expanded its holdings in the bank. Recent transactions disclosed by the bank on July 14 and July 15, 2025, revealed the acquisition of a total of 1 million shares of UBL.

The initial acquisition involved 350,000 shares at a price of 355.11 each, followed by a subsequent purchase of 650,000 shares at 375.04 each. These transactions have collectively elevated Providus Capital's cumulative shareholding in UBL to 111.02 million shares, translating to a cumulative percentage of 4.43% of the bank's total shares.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the purchases fall under the 'Ready' market category. The acquisitions by Providus Capital reflect a very large or significant move within the bank's trading activities.

The disclosure of interest by the directors, CEO, executives, their spouses, and substantial shareholders of listed companies is a regulatory requirement to maintain transparency within the financial markets.
