Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced a temporary suspension of trading activities for specific Government of Pakistan (GoP) Ijarah Sukuk issues due to an impending rental payment. The announcement, made on October 28, 2025, affects both the Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and Variable Rental Rate (VRR) Sukuks issued on May 10, 2024, with rental payments due on November 10, 2025.
According to the schedule released, trading activities, including clearing and settlement at the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) and movements in Sub Accounts/Investor Accounts at the Central Depository Company (CDC), will be suspended for the affected GoP Ijarah Sukuk. The suspension will cover the following instruments: PO3FRR100527, a 3-year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk maturing on May 10, 2027, and P05FRR100529, a 5-year Fixed Rental Rate Sukuk maturing on May 10, 2029. Additionally, the 3-year Variable Rental Rate Sukuk (P03VRR100527) and the 5-year Variable Rental Rate Sukuk (P05VRR100529), maturing on May 10, 2027, and May 10, 2029, respectively, will also be affected.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the trading suspension will occur from November 5 to November 7, 2025, while clearing and settlement activities will pause from November 6 to November 7, 2025. The market participants and investors are requested to take note of these dates to adjust their trading and settlement plans accordingly. The designated market category for these Sukuk remains unchanged during the suspension period.
All relevant parties have been advised to ensure compliance with the suspension schedule to facilitate a smooth rental payment process for the eligible investors holding these Sukuk instruments.
