Trading Resumes for GIS with Revised Profit Rates

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange announced the resumption of trading for the Government of Pakistan's Ijarah Sukuk (GIS) with revised profit rates effective July 22, 2026. This follows a suspension notice issued earlier this month concerning rental payments on the securities.

The trading applies to both the 3 & 5 Year Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and the 10 Year Variable Rental Rate (VRR) GIS, originally issued on January 22, 2026. The resumption is scheduled to take effect this Wednesday, ensuring market participants can engage with these securities under the new profit rate terms.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the 10 Year VRR, with a maturity date of January 22, 2036, will see a new net profit rate of 10.8254% applicable from July 22, 2026, to January 22, 2027. This adjustment comes after a review of the 6-month weighted average yield, which stood at 11.3904% as of July 8, 2026, with a spread of -56.50 basis points as determined in the January 21, 2026 auction.

The designated market category for these securities remains unchanged, allowing investors to manage their portfolios with clarity and updated financial expectations. The resumption of trading is a significant move for stakeholders who have anticipated these revisions since the initial suspension notice.
