Pakistan Stock Exchange to Host Awareness Session on New Investor Onboarding Framework

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), in collaboration with the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) and the Central Depository Company (CDC), is set to host an awareness session for TRE Certificate Holders and securities brokers. This session aims to provide comprehensive insights into the recently issued SECP Circular No. 19 of 2026, which introduces a Consolidated Framework for Investor Onboarding. The session is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 4:00 PM, and will take place at the Dr. Shamshad Akhtar Auditorium on the third floor of the Admin Building at PSX in Karachi.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) issued Circular No. 19 on August 25, 2026, delineating a new Consolidated Framework designed to streamline the investor onboarding process for Specified Regulated Intermediaries (SRIs), including securities brokers. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the framework addresses several critical aspects such as the process for onboarding individual customers through the Centralized Gateway Portal (CGP) and Asaan Connect, standardized customer information fields, and documentation requirements. It also outlines Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) obligations, as well as Turn-Around-Time (TAT) requirements and connectivity and integration obligations for SRIs.

The awareness session is designed to facilitate a better understanding of these new requirements and ensure a smooth implementation process among stakeholders. It is part of the broader efforts by the PSX, NCCPL, and CDC to enhance procedural transparency and efficiency within the market, categorized under the designated market category of securities brokerage. The session will provide attendees with an overview of the regulatory changes and guidance on how to align their operations with the new standards set forth by the SECP.
