First Capital Equities Limited Reports Significant Financial Loss Amid Discontinued Operations

Lahore: First Capital Equities Limited's Board of Directors convened on September 25, 2026, to approve the financial results for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, revealing a substantial loss predominantly due to discontinued operations. The meeting took place at the company's headquarters in Lahore.

According to the financial statements, the company reported a loss after taxation of 46.37 million rupees for the year ended June 30, 2026, compared to a profit of 170.91 million rupees in the previous year. The downturn was largely attributed to the loss from discontinued operations, which amounted to 90.99 million rupees. Conversely, profit from continuing operations stood at 44.62 million rupees.

The company did not declare any bonus shares, cash dividends, or rights issues for the fiscal year. The Board has scheduled the Annual General Meeting for October 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Lahore. The share transfer books will be closed from October 21 to October 28, 2026.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's earnings per share for continuing operations decreased to 0.316 rupees from 1.21 rupees in 2025. In terms of continuing operations, the company achieved an unrealized gain on the remeasurement of investments at fair value amounting to 113.14 million rupees, a significant increase from 62.34 million rupees in the previous year. The gain on the disposal of investments and dividend income further contributed to the results, totaling 775,430 rupees and 1.90 million rupees, respectively.

Operating and administrative expenses were reduced to 1.97 million rupees from 2.60 million rupees in 2025. However, the finance cost surged significantly to 71.57 million rupees from just 545 rupees in the previous year, impacting the overall financial position.

The company's total comprehensive loss for the year mirrored the loss after taxation at 46.37 million rupees, marking a stark contrast to the comprehensive income of 170.91 million rupees reported in the prior year.
