First National Equities Limited Reports Significant Financial Turnaround

Karachi: First National Equities Limited (FNEL) has reported a significant financial turnaround for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The company declared a profit after tax of Rs. 257,435,769, a marked improvement from the loss of Rs. 78,680,682 recorded in the previous year.

The company’s revenue for the year stood at Rs. 17,519,640, nearly doubling from Rs. 8,558,994 in 2025. Realized gains on the sale of investments also saw a substantial increase to Rs. 19,964,894 from Rs. 6,307,511. Additionally, unrealized gains from the remeasurement of investments at fair value through profit or loss rose to Rs. 21,381,775 from Rs. 4,888,072, and strategic investments contributed an unrealized gain of Rs. 337,842,266. The gross profit for the year was reported at Rs. 396,708,575, a notable rise from Rs. 19,754,577 in the previous fiscal year.

Administrative and other operating expenses were recorded at Rs. 68,082,513, a decrease from Rs. 99,817,406, aiding the company's operating profit to reach Rs. 328,626,062, compared to a loss of Rs. 80,062,829 in 2025. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), such figures underline a remarkable recovery in FNEL’s financial performance.

Other income saw a significant reduction to Rs. 1,727,493 from Rs. 35,369,197, while finance costs and other charges slightly increased to Rs. 26,141,644 from Rs. 25,304,204. Despite these changes, the profit before levies and tax was Rs. 303,094,899, compared to a loss of Rs. 71,391,458 in the previous year. After accounting for levies and taxation, the profit before tax amounted to Rs. 302,676,204.

The taxation for the year increased to Rs. 45,240,435 from Rs. 6,717,985, resulting in a profit after tax of Rs. 257,435,769. The earnings per share rose to Rs. 0.10, a recovery from the previous year’s loss per share of Rs. 0.03.

The total comprehensive income for the year was reported at Rs. 260,015,099, compared to a comprehensive loss of Rs. 63,717,057 in 2025. The company’s balance sheet as of June 30, 2026, reflects strengthened equity at Rs. 1,341,956,444, up from Rs. 1,081,941,345 the previous year.
