Lahore: Prosperity Weaving Mills Ltd. has reported a noteworthy increase in net profit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, despite facing challenges in the textile sector's weaving segment. According to the company's annual report released on October 6, 2026, net profit after tax rose sharply to Rs. 261.67 million, a substantial leap from the Rs. 91.12 million recorded the previous year. This improvement in profitability was accompanied by an increase in Earnings Per Share (EPS) from Rs. 4.93 to Rs. 14.16.
However, the company's sales revenue experienced a decline of 3.56%, totaling Rs. 17.54 billion in the current year compared to Rs. 18.19 billion in the same period last year. The decrease was mainly attributed to a lower per-unit selling price. Despite the drop in sales, the cost of sales as a percentage of revenue reduced from 93.48% to 92.53%, leading to an enhancement in the gross profit margin from 6.52% to 7.47%. This improvement was primarily due to a decrease in raw material costs, fuel and power expenses, and stores and spares consumption.
Operating expenses saw a minor increase to 3.20% of sales, up from 3.12% the previous year, largely due to inflationary pressures on administrative costs. Nevertheless, the company managed to maintain stable operational cash flows, ensuring timely debt repayments. Finance costs also decreased to 1.04% of revenue, down from 1.41% last year, driven by reduced overall debt levels and a more favorable monetary policy.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's strategic investments in capital assets saw a significant rise, with Rs. 901.58 million allocated towards BMR/expansion, compared to Rs. 253.96 million in 2025. The investments focused on enhancing weaving machinery and expanding solar capacity, aligning with the company's aim to boost productivity and operational efficiency while reducing its carbon footprint.
The textile sector, particularly the weaving segment, continues to confront macroeconomic challenges. However, Prosperity Weaving Mills Ltd.'s efforts to manage costs and invest strategically have contributed positively to its financial performance, ensuring it remains resilient in a fluctuating market environment.
