Chenab Limited Receives Extension for Annual General Meeting Amid Compliance Concerns

Karachi: Chenab Limited has been granted an extension by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. This decision comes following an application submitted by the company, seeking additional time under the stipulations of sections 132 and 223 of the Companies Act, 2017.

The SECP, in its response dated October 6, 2026, approved the company's request, allowing it until November 27, 2026, to convene the AGM. This meeting is crucial as it provides a platform for presenting the annual audited financial statements for shareholder review and approval.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Chenab Limited's request for an extension highlights the company's ongoing efforts to align with regulatory requirements. However, the SECP has advised the company to enhance its internal processes to ensure compliance with the Act in a timely manner, thereby reducing dependence on future extensions.

The SECP's decision underscores the importance of adhering to the Companies Act, 2017, which mandates the timely holding of AGMs for transparent corporate governance and accountability. The extension granted to Chenab Limited reflects the regulatory body's oversight in ensuring corporate entities meet their statutory obligations while maintaining shareholder trust.
