Al Meezan Investment Management Reports Unchanged Distributions Amid Quarterly Losses

Karachi: Al Meezan Investment Management Limited, a key player in Pakistan's financial sector, has announced the financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2026. In a recent board meeting held on October 9, 2026, the company's directors approved the unaudited financial outcomes for several funds under its management. Notably, the results revealed that none of the funds would offer interim distributions for the period.

The detailed report lists twenty-one funds managed by Al Meezan, with the Meezan Rozana Amdani Fund and Meezan Daily Income Fund noted for making daily distributions in line with their offering documents. However, the remaining nineteen funds, including prominent names such as the Meezan Islamic Fund, KSE - Meezan Index Fund, and Meezan Energy Fund, reported no interim distributions for the quarter.

The financial data, set to be transmitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), also highlighted the performance of the Meezan Pakistan Exchange Traded Fund. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the fund recorded a total loss of 95.18 million rupees for the quarter, a stark contrast to the 150.46 million rupees income reported in the same period last year. This represents a very large or significant move.

The income segment showed a sharp decline, with profits from saving accounts and dividend incomes increasing but overshadowed by net realized losses on investment sales and a substantial decline in the unrealized value of investments. The fund's expenses, including remuneration and various fees, increased to 5.55 million rupees from 1.22 million rupees in the previous year, further impacting the bottom line.

Furthermore, the fund's net assets saw a significant increase, reaching approximately 2.50 billion rupees, up from 1.44 billion rupees in June 2026. This growth was accompanied by an increase in the number of units issued, which rose to 144.07 million from 79.37 million, reflecting heightened investor interest.

Despite these developments, the net asset value per unit decreased to 17.35 rupees from 18.14 rupees, indicating a moderate move in the market value of the units. The report on these financial outcomes will be accessible on Al Meezan's website in compliance with regulatory requirements.
