Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd Seeks Extension for Quarterly Financials Amid Audit Delays

Lahore: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd has formally requested an extension for the submission of its first-quarter accounts for the period ending September 30, 2026, as per a report dated October 9, 2026. This extension request comes under section 237 of the Companies Act, 2017, as the company awaits the completion of the audit for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The company previously received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to extend the period for holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and presenting the annual audited accounts for the year ending June 30, 2026. This approval, granted on October 5, 2026, allows the company until November 27, 2026, to fulfill these requirements.

According to the SECP and IAS-34 (Interim Financial Reporting) guidelines, interim reports must include financial statements, either condensed or complete, with comparative figures from the preceding financial year. However, the company's accounts for FY 2025-26 are still provisional and unaudited. Once the audit is finalized, the financial statements will be presented to the Board of Directors for approval.

The financial statements' approval is crucial, as the opening balance sheet figures for the first quarter ending September 30, 2026, are currently provisional and may change substantially once the audit is completed. These audited figures for FY 2026-27 are necessary for preparing the first quarterly accounts.

In light of these circumstances, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd has requested an additional 30-day extension for circulating its quarterly accounts, extending the deadline to November 29, 2026. This request follows similar extensions granted in previous periods due to comparable challenges.

The application for this extension includes an affidavit signed by Kamran Akram, the Chief Financial Officer of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd, confirming the accuracy and completeness of the information provided. A bank challan of Rs. 1,000 has been submitted as part of the application process.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's financial updates are anticipated by shareholders and other stakeholders, pending the completion of the audit and subsequent board approval. The market awaits these financials as they provide critical insights into the company's fiscal health and operational performance.
