Revised Profit Rates Announced for Resumed Trading of GIS on PSX

Karachi: Trading in the Government of Pakistan (GoP) Ijarah Sukuk (GIS) is set to resume on October 21, 2026, following a temporary suspension. According to a recent announcement, this resumption applies to both Fixed Rental Rate (FRR) and Variable Rental Rate (VRR) GIS issues, dated October 21, 2024.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) had previously halted trading of these instruments due to rental payment concerns. The revised trading will include updated profit rates for the mentioned securities. Notably, the trading of 3, 5, and 10 Year VRR GIS will recommence with new profit rates, reflecting changes in the market conditions.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the 3-Year VRR, maturing on October 21, 2027, will now carry a net profit rate of 11.8210%, marking a very large or significant move from its previous rate of 10.5949%. Similarly, the 5-Year VRR, with maturity on October 21, 2029, sees its rate adjusted to 11.9810% from 10.7549%, also classified as a very large or significant move. The 10-Year VRR, set to mature on October 21, 2034, will have its rate increased to 12.3310% from 11.1049%, indicating another very large or significant move.

These adjustments in profit rates are informed by the latest 6-Month T-Bills Weighted Average Yield of 12.3810% as of October 14, 2026, and applicable spreads from the October 18, 2024, auction. The designated market category for these securities remains unchanged.
