MCB Pakistan Asset Allocation Fund Posts Significant Losses for Q3 2026

Karachi: MCB Investment Management Limited has released its financial results for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, revealing a substantial decline in income for the MCB Pakistan Asset Allocation Fund. The report, dated October 20, 2026, details the fund's performance, highlighting a marked downturn in net income.

For the third quarter, the fund reported a net loss of 64.65 million rupees, in stark contrast to a net income of 277.12 million rupees recorded in the same period last year. This significant move reflects a notable shift in financial outcomes year-on-year.

The total income for the quarter amounted to a loss of 51.15 million rupees, compared to an income of 291.03 million rupees in the previous year. This downturn was primarily driven by a capital loss on the sale of investments, which stood at 10.01 million rupees, reversing the previous year's gain of 26.55 million rupees. Additionally, an unrealized diminution in the fair value of investments classified as 'at fair value through profit or loss' amounted to 56.93 million rupees, in contrast to the previous year's appreciation of 250.24 million rupees.

Dividend income decreased to 8.80 million rupees from 10.47 million rupees, whereas profit on bank deposits and term deposit receipts increased to 6.97 million rupees, compared to 3.74 million rupees in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Other income remained relatively stable at 21,000 rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), total expenses for the quarter were reported at 13.50 million rupees, a slight decrease from the 13.90 million rupees recorded in the same period last year. The expenses included remuneration to the Management Company, the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited - Trustee, and other associated costs.

The financial report highlights the absence of taxation for the period, both in the current and previous year, resulting in the net loss after taxation being equal to the pre-tax loss.

The report does not specify any allocation of net income for the period, indicating a significant shift from the previous year's allocation of 266.92 million rupees. The fund had previously allocated 266.59 million rupees related to capital gains and 327,000 rupees excluding capital gains.

The financial results underscore the challenges faced by the MCB Pakistan Asset Allocation Fund during the quarter, marking a period of significant financial turbulence.
