Karachi: MCB Investment Management Limited has reported the financial results for its MCB Pakistan Fixed Return Fund for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, revealing a significant downturn in income compared to the previous year. The report, released on October 20, 2026, indicates a substantial decline in total income and net income for the period.
The financial statement for the MCB Pakistan Fixed Return Fund detailed that total income for the quarter stood at zero rupees, a stark contrast to the 170.043 million rupees reported for the same period in 2025. The drastic change in income is attributed to the absence of net capital gain or loss on the sale of investments and income from government securities, which had previously contributed 192,000 rupees and 174.139 million rupees, respectively, in the prior year.
Despite the absence of income, the fund incurred operating expenses totaling 16.789 million rupees. This included remuneration for the management company and trustee, along with associated taxes and fees. The remuneration for MCB Investment Management Limited alone amounted to 12.603 million rupees, with an additional 1.891 million rupees allocated for Sindh Sales Tax on this remuneration.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the fund's net income for the period after deducting operating expenses was reported as zero, compared to the 153.254 million rupees after-tax net income recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. This marks a very large or significant move in the financial performance of the fund.
Furthermore, the statement clarified that there was no taxation applicable for the period, contributing to the unchanged net income figure post-taxation. The allocation of net income for the period, which typically includes both capital gains and regular income, was similarly reported at zero, highlighting the fund's financial challenges during the quarter.
The results indicate a notable shift from the previous fiscal year, with the fund's accounting income available for distribution also registering at zero, compared to 153.254 million rupees in the corresponding period of 2025. The financial downturn underscores the volatility and unpredictability in the fund's income from investments, necessitating close monitoring and potential strategic adjustments by the management company.
