Karachi: Dost Steels Limited has published its financial statement for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, revealing a substantial loss compared to the previous year. The company's report, dated October 21, 2026, highlights a challenging year marked by increased costs and reduced income levels.
The steel manufacturer reported a gross loss of 109.67 million rupees for the year, compared to a gross loss of 38.61 million rupees in the previous year. This increase in gross loss is primarily attributed to the cost of sales, which rose sharply to 109.67 million rupees from 38.61 million rupees.
Administrative expenses remained largely unchanged, amounting to 11.42 million rupees, slightly higher than the previous year's 11.07 million rupees. However, the finance cost saw a notable decrease, falling to 64.67 million rupees from 129.25 million rupees in the prior year.
Dost Steels recorded a loss before levies and taxation of 189.01 million rupees, a drastic decline from a profit of 294.95 million rupees the previous year. After accounting for taxation, the company reported a net loss of 164.83 million rupees, contrasting with a net profit of 302.46 million rupees from 2025.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's total comprehensive loss for the year stood at 164.83 million rupees, down from a total comprehensive income of 7.38 billion rupees last year. This decrease was largely due to the absence of a surplus revaluation of property, plant, and equipment, which had significantly bolstered the previous year's results.
The earnings per share also reflected this downturn, showing a loss of 0.37 rupees per share compared to an earnings per share of 0.68 rupees in 2025.
On the balance sheet, the company's total assets decreased slightly to 11.45 billion rupees from 11.53 billion rupees. Non-current assets accounted for the majority, totaling 11.41 billion rupees. Current assets remained stable at 45.63 million rupees.
Equity and liabilities showed a decrease as well, with total equity and liabilities standing at 11.45 billion rupees, compared to 11.53 billion rupees in the previous year. Share capital and reserves amounted to 7.53 billion rupees, while non-current liabilities decreased to 2.83 billion rupees. Current liabilities, however, increased to 1.10 billion rupees from 718.63 million rupees in 2025.
Dost Steels Limited's financial statement paints a picture of a challenging year, with significant losses and rising costs impacting the company's bottom line. The market category for this report is the steel manufacturing sector.
