Karachi: Atlas Battery Limited conducted its corporate briefing session for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, unveiling notable shifts in its financial statements amidst a backdrop of geopolitical and market challenges. The report, dated October 22, 2026, highlighted key changes in assets, liabilities, and profitability metrics.
The balance sheet revealed an overall increase in total assets by 17.0%, rising from Rs. 18,909 million in 2025 to Rs. 22,119 million in 2026. Stock-in-trade experienced a significant move upwards, increasing by 31.3% to Rs. 10,165 million. This increase was attributed to maintaining higher raw material stocks due to geopolitical disruptions. Trade debts also saw a big move, climbing by 35.2% to Rs. 3,526 million, primarily due to reduced cash flow in the secondary market.
There was a noteworthy decrease in shareholders' equity, which decreased by 4.6% to Rs. 7,536 million. Short-term borrowings surged by 60.7%, reaching Rs. 7,218 million, driven by working capital requirements. Long-term borrowings stood at Rs. 500 million. The report also noted a rise in other non-current liabilities by 60.8% to Rs. 505 million.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Atlas Battery's sales registered a minor move downwards, decreasing by 0.8% to Rs. 34.9 billion. Export sales, however, saw a big move, increasing by 18.2% to Rs. 721 million. Despite growth in market volumes, the AMB replacement market faced pricing pressures which offset volume gains.
The cost of sales rose by 2.3% due to increased input costs and geopolitical pressures, though these were partially mitigated by cost reduction initiatives. Distribution costs increased by 10.0%, while administrative expenses were effectively controlled, reducing by 13.1%. Finance costs saw a significant move downwards by 22.7%, attributed to lower markup rates and improved working capital management.
Profit before tax plummeted significantly by 88.1% to Rs. 75 million, while profit after tax reported a substantial loss of Rs. 371 million, compared to a profit of Rs. 91 million the previous year. This led to a loss per share of Rs. 10.59, a stark contrast to the earnings per share of Rs. 2.60 in 2025.
The session underscored the impact of geopolitical factors and market conditions on Atlas Battery's fiscal performance, reflecting both challenges and strategic financial maneuvers undertaken during the year.
