First National Bank Modaraba Reports Financial Results for FY 2026

Karachi: First National Bank Modaraba, a company listed in the non-banking financial sector category of the Pakistan Stock Exchange, has released its financial results for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The company reported changes in its balance sheet and profit and loss account, highlighting variances driven by multiple factors over the past year.

The balance sheet for the fiscal year 2026 revealed total current assets of Rs 403.18 million, marking a very large or significant move of 5.81% compared to the previous year. This increase was primarily attributed to a rise in short-term investments in term deposit receipts (TDRs). In contrast, total non-current assets saw a decline of 9.49%, resulting in a total assets growth of 4.21%, amounting to Rs 443.34 million.

Equity for the period stood at negative Rs 29.88 million, experiencing a very large or significant move of 17.04% due to an increase in accumulated losses, as the company incurred a net loss during the year. Current liabilities rose to Rs 473.23 million, a big move of 4.94%, driven by increased finance costs on short-term financing. Consequently, total equity and liabilities amounted to Rs 443.34 million, matching the total assets figure and reflecting a growth of 4.21%.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the profit and loss account of the company showed a total income of Rs 38.94 million for FY 2026, representing a very large or significant move of 20.76% decrease from FY 2025. This was largely due to a 19.78% decrease in profit on bank deposits and short-term investments, linked to a reduction in the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) policy rate.

Operating expenses increased by 8.16%, reaching Rs 17.63 million, influenced by the inflationary impact. The finance cost decreased notably by 25.23% to Rs 25.64 million, attributed to a decline in markup on short-term financing facilities due to the reduction in the SBP policy rate. Operating loss widened to Rs 4.32 million, indicating an 87.83% increase from the previous year. The company reported a net loss of Rs 4.35 million, a moderate move improvement of 7.05% compared to the FY 2025 loss.

Overall, First National Bank Modaraba's financial performance for the year showcased significant shifts in various financial metrics, reflecting broader economic influences and internal financial strategies.
