Karachi: Adamjee Life Assurance Company Limited has released its condensed interim financial statements for the half-year ending June 30, 2025, showing a decline in profitability despite a significant rise in premium income. The company’s profit before tax fell to 950.73 million, a Big move from the previous year, while profit after tax saw a similar Big move decrease to 580.00 million.
On August 29, 2025, the Board of Directors shared the financial highlights, noting that both gross and net premiums had increased significantly due to new business generation in regular and single premium products. Gross premium rose to 16.18 billion, and net premium reached 15.74 billion, reflecting the company’s growth in premium income.
However, investment income dropped to 8.74 billion, marking a Big move decrease. This decline was attributed to a reduction in interest rates, which impacted returns despite gains in the equity market. Operating expenses also rose, with acquisition and other expenses increasing to 2.41 billion, a Moderate move attributed to a surge in new business acquisition.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Adamjee Life’s earnings per share decreased to 2.21 from 2.47, indicating a Moderate move. The statutory funds and shareholders’ equity both registered a Minor move increase, each growing by 6% to 111.30 billion and 5.75 billion, respectively.
The company’s Window Takaful Operations demonstrated growth, with gross contributions rising to 2.63 billion, and profit before tax increasing 1.25 times to 206 million. The new business mix for Takaful operations improved from 21% to 28%.
Looking forward, the company remains optimistic about economic growth and plans to enhance awareness of financial protection needs through mass campaigns. It anticipates stable returns on investment-linked insurance products amid the country’s current interest rates and fiscal conditions.
Adamjee Life has expressed gratitude towards its shareholders, customers, employees, and the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for their continued support and guidance, contributing to the company’s position as a prominent player in Pakistan’s life insurance market.
