Karachi: Agha Steel Industries Limited, a prominent player in the steel manufacturing sector, has unveiled its annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, revealing substantial losses despite a revaluation of fixed assets. The report, dated October 9, 2026, highlights a challenging year for the company, marked by significant financial setbacks.
According to the report, Agha Steel's total assets at the end of June 2026 stood at 53.77 billion rupees, a decrease from the previous year's 55.71 billion rupees. This decline is reflected across several categories, including both current and non-current assets. Notably, the company's intangible assets dropped from 29.83 million rupees in 2025 to 23.55 million rupees in 2026.
The financial strain is further exemplified by the company's total comprehensive loss for the year, which amounted to 3.54 billion rupees, a considerable improvement from the prior year's loss of 7.21 billion rupees. The loss after taxation was reported at 4.74 billion rupees, compared to 7.21 billion rupees in 2025. The company also faced a substantial gross loss of 2.35 billion rupees, escalating from 1.98 billion rupees in the previous fiscal year.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Agha Steel's total shareholders' equity decreased to 18.55 billion rupees from 20.93 billion rupees the previous year. The company reported a loss per share of 7.62 rupees, which, although an improvement, reflects the ongoing challenges compared to the previous year's loss per share of 11.92 rupees.
On a positive note, the surplus on the revaluation of fixed assets, recorded at 1.20 billion rupees, offered some respite. However, this was overshadowed by the overall financial performance, which included an operating loss of 6.02 billion rupees and finance costs reaching 2.88 billion rupees.
Agha Steel's turnover fell to 8.39 billion rupees from 10.67 billion rupees, marking a very large or significant move. Concurrently, the cost of sales decreased to 10.74 billion rupees from 12.65 billion rupees, yet the company still incurred a gross loss.
The financial report indicates a reduction in both administrative expenses and selling and distribution costs, alongside a decrease in other expenses. Despite these efforts, the company's financial position remains a concern, underscored by deferred tax liabilities of 1.59 billion rupees, down from 2.92 billion rupees in 2025.
The report serves as a crucial indicator of the financial health of Agha Steel Industries Limited and signals the need for strategic adjustments in the coming fiscal year to mitigate ongoing challenges in the market.
