Karachi: Ali Asghar Textile Mills Limited has scheduled its 58th Annual General Meeting for October 28, 2024, where shareholders will vote on the election of directors, according to a company notice. The meeting, announced in a regulatory filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange, will include a vote via postal ballot, adhering to the Companies Act, 2017 regulations.

The Karachi-based textile firm released its ballot paper on October 20, listing nine candidates vying for the director positions. The nominees include current executives and several independent directors, with the aim of reinforcing governance and strategic oversight at the company. Among the contenders are Mr. Nadeem Ellahi Shaikh, the current Chief Executive, and Mrs. Gulnar Humayun, proposed as Director and Chairperson.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the election process adheres to the stipulated norms under Sections 159 and 166 of the Companies Act, 2017, ensuring that candidates meet the necessary criteria.
