Karachi: Through an addendum issued on 23 July 2024, Amreli Steels Limited notified shareholders of changes in the candidate list for its upcoming director elections. The elections are scheduled for 30 July 2024, at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan in Karachi.

Muhammad Kamran Saleem, previously a candidate in the "Other Directors" category, has withdrawn his consent to contest in the election. The company has since updated the list of candidates for the election, which will now see only the "Female" category contested during the Extraordinary General Meeting.

The list of candidates now includes one nominee for the "Female Director" category: Ms. Mariam Akberali and Ms. Nilofer Habib Shadan. The "Independent Directors" category includes Syed Asghar Jamil Rizvi and Mr. Sohail Feroz Shamsi. With the withdrawal of Mr. Saleem, the "Other Directors" category will include Mr. Abbas Akberali, Mr. Shayan Akberali, Mr. Nadi Ahhas Akheralt, and Mr. Zoeb Salemwala.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the number of nominees in the "Independent Directors" and "Other Directors" categories does not exceed the positions available. As a result, the candidates in these categories will be elected unopposed, and the election will proceed only for the "Female Director" category.

The company has made the necessary adjustments to the postal ballot paper for the director elections and has posted it on its website. Shareholders are encouraged to download the ballot paper to participate in the voting process.
