Askari Bank Limited Shares Reported Lost by Shareholders

Karachi: In a recent announcement, Askari Bank Limited has disclosed that several share certificates belonging to various shareholders have been reported as lost or misplaced. The notification was made public on October 15, 2023, aiming to inform the members of the Pakistan Stock Exchange and urge caution in dealing with the mentioned certificates.

The bank has identified four shareholders whose share certificates have gone missing. The affected parties include Mrs. Nana, Mr. Khalid Malik, Mr. Shakil Ahmed, and Miss Shabana Akbar. Collectively, the certificates account for a total of 6,617 shares.

Mrs. Nana reported five separate certificate losses with distinctive numbers ranging between 303,935,112 to 709,828,522, amounting to a total of 451 shares. Similarly, Mr. Khalid Malik reported five lost certificates with distinctive numbers from 305,152,196 to 126,357,5904, covering a total of 18 shares. Mr. Shakil Ahmed declared three lost certificates, spanning distinctive numbers 25,268,001 to 126,157,8037, involving a total of 657 shares. Lastly, Miss Shabana Akbar reported the largest number of lost shares, amounting to 5,491, covered by six certificates with distinctive numbers from 96,107,076 to 708,557,171.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the concerned members have been advised not to engage in any transactions involving these specific share certificates. The bank has stated that if no objections are received within three days from the circulation of this notice, duplicate share certificates will be issued to the reported shareholders, and no further claims will be entertained.

This incident highlights the importance of secure management and verification of share certificates within the designated market category. The bank urges shareholders to ensure the safekeeping of their documents to prevent such occurrences in the future.
