Attock Refinery Limited Reports Significant Surge in Quarterly Profits Amid Rising Revenues

Islamabad: Attock Refinery Limited (ARL), a prominent player in Pakistan's refining sector, has reported a substantial increase in its financial performance for the first quarter ending September 30, 2026. The company's robust results were characterized by a significant rise in both gross sales and profit margins, signaling a period of growth and stability for the refinery.

According to the financial statements released by ARL, the company achieved gross sales of Rs 202.64 billion for the quarter, a notable increase from Rs 88.17 billion recorded in the same period last year. This surge in sales contributed to a net profit after taxation from refinery operations of Rs 18.52 billion, a substantial jump from Rs 1.45 billion in the previous year.

The company’s net sales stood at Rs 143.82 billion, reflecting a strong market demand and operational efficiency, with the cost of sales recorded at Rs 114.73 billion. This resulted in a gross profit of Rs 29.09 billion, compared to Rs 931.50 million in the corresponding period last year.

A key highlight of the financial report was the increase in reserves and surplus, which grew to Rs 127.39 billion from Rs 108.75 billion as of June 30, 2026. The total equity and liabilities of the company also saw an upward trajectory, amounting to Rs 303.13 billion from Rs 277.79 billion previously reported.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), ARL's earnings per share for the quarter were Rs 174.89, a significant rise from Rs 13.62 in the previous year. This increase is attributed to both the refinery and non-refinery operations, with the latter contributing Rs 1.16 per share.

Current liabilities for the period were reported at Rs 111.68 billion, an increase from Rs 104.98 billion as of June 30, 2026. Among these, trade and other payables were Rs 98.17 billion, and the provision for taxation rose to Rs 13.49 billion from Rs 9.48 billion.

On the assets front, the company reported current assets of Rs 216.33 billion, up from Rs 191.43 billion at the end of June. This increase was largely driven by cash and bank balances, which escalated to Rs 78.14 billion from Rs 56.30 billion, and trade debts, which increased to Rs 36.38 billion from Rs 18.70 billion.

The significant financial performance of ARL in the first quarter of 2026 underscores the company's strategic positioning and operational strength in the refining market category. As the company continues to leverage market opportunities, its financial outlook remains positive for the upcoming quarters.
