Karachi: Bata Pakistan Limited, a household name in the footwear industry since its incorporation in 1951, has reported a significant decline in its financial performance for the year 2025. This comes despite the company's extensive efforts in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities aimed at community development and environmental sustainability.
In a corporate briefing session dated June 15, 2026, Bata Pakistan presented its annual performance report, showcasing both its financial metrics and CSR accomplishments. According to the report, the company's total turnover decreased to 17,777.0 million rupees in 2025 from 18,332.0 million rupees in 2024, reflecting a challenging business environment.
The company's gross profit margin also experienced a big move, falling from 49.2% in 2024 to 39.5% in 2025. Furthermore, Bata Pakistan recorded a loss after tax amounting to 2,385.1 million rupees in 2025, a stark contrast to the profit of 850.7 million rupees achieved in the previous year. The earnings per share also declined from 112.5 rupees to a loss of 315.5 rupees.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), these figures illustrate a turbulent financial year for Bata Pakistan Limited. Despite the financial setbacks, the company has continued to invest in CSR initiatives, aiming to foster positive impacts in the communities it serves.
Bata Pakistan's CSR activities for 2025 were diverse, focusing on education, health, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. Health awareness sessions, IT mentoring, and digital literacy workshops enhanced the skills and knowledge of hundreds of students. A free medical camp benefited 285 patients, while a new water filtration plant provided safe drinking water to over 750 students and surrounding communities.
In terms of environmental efforts, the "Plant for Life" campaign led to the planting of over 2,100 trees and saplings. Community clean-up drives and activities on World Environment Day focused on addressing plastic pollution and raising environmental awareness.
The company also engaged in community-focused projects, including the refurbishment of classrooms and the improvement of drinking water facilities as part of Founder's Day volunteering. Additionally, Bata Pakistan's collaboration with Sundas Foundation resulted in the collection of 96 units of blood from 102 volunteers.
The company's commitment to social responsibility was further demonstrated through its involvement in sports and inclusion initiatives, such as the annual sports day and the World Children's Day "Joy Splash Carnival."
