Karachi: BF Biosciences Limited has announced the successful launch of its new product, Zeptide® (Tirzepatide), in a pre-filled syringe format, according to an official statement released on October 14, 2025. Zeptide® is designed to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity by acting as a dual agonist for the GLP-1 and GIP receptors. The product has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Manufactured at the company's newly established European prefilled syringes facility, Zeptide® features a patient-friendly design that aims to reduce dosing errors. The product has undergone rigorous testing for quality, chemical structure, and potency at both a leading biological mass spectrometry facility in the United States and a prominent national university in Pakistan.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the launch of Zeptide® is part of the company's strategic utilization of IPO proceeds, as outlined in their prospectus. The company anticipates that this development will contribute positively to its growth trajectory.
Pakistan faces a significant public health challenge, with the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world. Approximately 9 million individuals in the country are living with undiagnosed diabetes, and among those diagnosed, many find it difficult to manage the condition effectively. The World Health Organization reports that 57% of women and 41% of men in Pakistan are overweight or obese, conditions that increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by sevenfold.
As the first biopharmaceutical plant in Pakistan, BF Biosciences Limited has been dedicated for over a decade to manufacturing essential medicines for diseases such as HCV, cancer, cardiology, diabetes, and nephrology. The company expressed confidence that the introduction of Zeptide® will not only enhance its growth but also fortify its mission to meet critical unmet patient needs in these therapeutic areas.
