Chakwal Spinning Mills Reports Increased Losses, Plans Shift to IT Sector

Karachi: Chakwal Spinning Mills Limited has reported a significant increase in its net losses for the first quarter ending September 30, 2024. According to the Directors' Report submitted to shareholders, the company incurred a net loss of Rs. 29.06 million, compared to the Rs. 9.88 million loss during the same period last year. The company attributes this increase in losses to the depreciation on the revalued amount of its assets.

In a strategic move to counter these financial challenges, the management of Chakwal Spinning Mills Limited has been striving for the past year to shift its focus towards the IT sector. This decision comes in response to the growing opportunities and incentives offered by the government in this booming industry. Despite facing numerous challenges and constraints in this transition, the company remains determined to achieve its diversification goals.

The company has announced that it is currently in the process of changing its name to "INFINI DATA TECHNOLOGIES" as part of its new strategic direction. A comprehensive business plan is being finalized and will be presented to the company's members at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM) scheduled to be called soon. The management has already signed a tentative term sheet with Inter Market Securities, which is expected to be finalized before the EOGM.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the proposed changes are expected to not only improve the company's performance by ensuring consistent profitability but also strengthen shareholder confidence. The company emphasizes that the successful execution of the EOGM will pave the way for its transition into the IT sector and boost its financial health.

The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to the shareholders for their patience and acknowledges the continued diligence and dedication of the company's staff and workers. As Chakwal Spinning Mills Limited moves towards a new business horizon, it aims to leverage the potential of the IT market to secure a profitable future.
