Karachi: Cherat Cement Company Limited has announced the implementation of electronic and postal voting facilities for its forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for October 16, 2024. The company outlined detailed procedures for both methods to ensure shareholder participation in deciding on special business matters.
In a statement issued on September 24, and in compliance with the Postal Ballot Regulations of 2018, Cherat Cement has enabled its shareholders to vote electronically or via postal ballot. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this move is aimed at enhancing shareholder inclusiveness and transparency during the decision-making process.
For e-voting, which is accessible from October 12 to October 15, shareholders must use the secure web portal of CDC Share Registrar Services Limited. The company will send out emails and SMS with login details and security codes to all registered shareholders by the end of business on October 8. Authentication for casting votes electronically will be verified through unique identifiers, ensuring the integrity of each vote.
Alternatively, shareholders opting for postal voting must submit their signed and filled ballot papers, along with a copy of their CNIC, to the company's head office in Karachi by October 15. This approach ensures that those unable to vote online still have a voice in the company’s governance.
Both voting options underscore Cherat Cement’s commitment to accommodating all shareholders, particularly in light of the ongoing digital transformation in corporate governance practices. The results and resolutions from the AGM will be disclosed subsequently, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of the outcomes.
The notice for these voting options will also be published in the Daily Business Recorder and Nawa-e-Waqt newspapers on October 9, ensuring wide dissemination among the company's Trading Right Entitlement (TRE) Certificate Holders and other stakeholders.
