Industries Limited has reported a loss of 3.46 million rupees for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, marking a continuation of financial challenges as the company experiences declining sales and increased operating expenses. This financial result reflects a decrease from the 14.43 million rupees loss recorded in 2023, according to the company's Corporate Briefing Presentation.
The company's sales figures for 2024 stood at 29.17 million rupees, dropping from 37.18 million rupees in 2023. Meanwhile, the cost of sales decreased slightly to 21.27 million rupees from 22.12 million rupees the previous year. Despite the reduction in costs, the gross profit narrowed to 7.90 million rupees from 15.06 million rupees in 2023.
Operating expenses, including selling, distribution, and administrative costs, increased to 26.11 million rupees from 25.29 million rupees in 2023. This rise contributed to an operating loss of 0.54 million rupees, compared to an operating profit of 5.46 million rupees in the prior year.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), other income for the company increased to 17.67 million rupees from 15.69 million rupees in 2023. However, this was not enough to offset the operating losses. The finance cost also rose to 0.38 million rupees from 0.09 million rupees.
Furthermore, the share of profit from associated undertakings improved, contributing 2.86 million rupees in 2024 compared to a loss of 1.59 million rupees in 2023. Despite these improvements, the company's profit before taxation declined to 1.95 million rupees from 3.78 million rupees in the previous year.
The company did not declare any dividends or bonuses for the fiscal year 2024. As of June 30, 2024, D. S. Industries Limited's total equity was reported at 183.79 million rupees, with current liabilities totaling 107.77 million rupees.
