Karachi: Din Textile Mills Limited has reported a significant improvement in its financial performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, despite facing a series of economic and operational challenges. The company's latest financials show a decrease in net loss after taxes to Rs. 347.72 million, down from Rs. 782.69 million in the same period last year.
During the quarter, Din Textile witnessed a 59% increase in sales, which climbed to Rs. 11,416.27 million compared to Rs. 7,532.14 million in the corresponding period last year. This surge in revenue is primarily attributed to a volume increase of 94.94% in sales, despite a 5.52% drop in the cost of sales as a percentage of sales. Gross profit also saw a notable rise, reaching Rs. 4,267.00 million, a 56% improvement year-over-year.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company's after-tax loss has significantly reduced, reflecting effective cost controls and stock management improvements. The finance cost for the quarter under review was Rs. 937.90 million, a decrease of 8.76% from the previous year. This reduction is credited to efficient policy measures by the State Bank and proactive company strategies.
The Directors' report highlighted numerous global and local economic uncertainties that continue to pose challenges to the textile industry in Pakistan. These include high energy costs, currency volatility, and elevated interest rates. The company has navigated these challenges by leveraging a combination of cost-cutting measures, efficient energy usage, and a focus on sustainable and profitable growth.
In terms of market dynamics, the textile sector is experiencing a decline due to reduced demand and high operational costs. The company, however, has maintained its competitive edge by improving its operational efficiencies and adapting to the evolving market conditions.
Future prospects for Din Textile Mills suggest cautious optimism. The company plans to continue focusing on enhancing productivity and exploring cost-effective power alternatives. With a strategic plan in place to counteract external pressures and enhance profitability, Din Textile Mills is positioning itself for sustained growth in a volatile market.
