Engro Polymer & Chemicals Reports Mixed Financial Results Amid Rising Costs

Karachi: Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited has released its financial results for the period ending September 30, 2026, highlighting a notable shift in its financial position. According to the report dated October 21, 2026, the company experienced a decrease in profit for the quarter, signaling challenges amid rising operational costs.

The company's unconsolidated interim statement of financial position revealed a slight increase in total assets, rising to 118.18 billion rupees from 116.73 billion rupees at the end of 2025. This rise is primarily attributed to a growth in current assets, notably in stock-in-trade, which climbed to 14.00 billion rupees from 10.35 billion rupees recorded last year.

Total equity showed a modest increase to 25.76 billion rupees, up from 25.36 billion rupees in December 2025. However, non-current liabilities decreased significantly to 47.12 billion rupees from 54.46 billion rupees, while current liabilities increased to 45.30 billion rupees from 36.90 billion rupees.

Engro Polymer & Chemicals reported a revenue of 25.46 billion rupees for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, a rise from 19.68 billion rupees in the same period last year. Despite the increase in revenue, the company faced higher cost of sales, which amounted to 24.94 billion rupees compared to 17.21 billion rupees in the previous year, resulting in a gross profit of 518.15 million rupees, down from 2.47 billion rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company recorded a profit before income tax of negative 1.82 billion rupees, a significant drop from the 149.72 million rupees profit reported in the same quarter last year. This decrease is primarily due to increased finance costs, which rose to 1.98 billion rupees from 1.42 billion rupees.

The company's net profit for the nine-month period ending September 30, 2026, stood at 399.06 million rupees, a turnaround from the loss of 2.83 billion rupees reported in the same period last year. Basic earnings per share were reported at 0.44 rupees, contrasting with a loss of 3.12 rupees per share in the previous year.

Despite a challenging quarter, Engro Polymer & Chemicals' overall financial performance for the nine-month period reflects some improvement. The company's ability to manage costs and sustain revenue growth will be critical in navigating the current economic climate.
