Karachi: An evacuation drill and firefighting demonstration will be conducted at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) premises on Thursday, August 15, 2024, immediately after trading hours at 4:30 PM. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), all Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) holders, occupants, and PSX staff are required to participate in the scheduled safety exercises.

The evacuation drill will commence with a loud emergency alarm signaling all personnel within the vicinity to exit the building using the nearest emergency exits, avoiding elevators, and proceed to the Emergency Assembly Area located within the PSX Compound. Participants are advised to alert others on their way out and not to re-enter the premises until clearance is given by the Fire Wardens (FW) or Crisis Management Team (CMT). The drill aims to ensure that all individuals are familiar with the quickest and safest evacuation routes and to verify that no one remains inside during the evacuation.

Following the evacuation, a firefighting demonstration will take place, showcasing various types of fire extinguishers and their proper usage. TREC holders and occupants are reminded to ensure that fire extinguishers in their offices are properly maintained and that at least two individuals from each office are designated to participate in the firefighting demonstration.

The exercises are intended to prepare all personnel for potential emergencies such as fires or earthquakes, enhancing their ability to evacuate safely and efficiently without causing panic or injury.
