Karachi: The First National Bank Modaraba has reported a significant financial setback for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The institution's statement of profit and loss reveals a total comprehensive loss of approximately 4.68 million rupees, representing a challenging financial period for the entity.
According to the latest financial data, the Modaraba generated a total income of 49.14 million rupees from its operations, primarily through profits on bank deposits and short-term investments. However, this income was overshadowed by substantial expenses amounting to 50.59 million rupees, leading to an operating loss before provisions and taxation of 1.45 million rupees.
The financial report further highlights that the Modaraba's profit before levies and income tax stood at a negative 3.26 million rupees. After accounting for income tax, the net profit for the year was recorded at a loss of 3.96 million rupees. Additionally, an unrealized loss on the revaluation of sukuks contributed an extra 0.72 million rupees to the overall comprehensive loss.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the Modaraba's earnings per certificate fell to a negative 0.16 rupees, underscoring the significant move in its financial performance. The company's balance sheet also reflected net liabilities of 25.53 million rupees, a deterioration from the previous year's 20.84 million rupees.
In terms of its financial position, the Modaraba's total assets amounted to 425.42 million rupees. Current assets stood at 381.05 million rupees, while non-current assets were valued at 44.37 million rupees. Current liabilities exceeded total assets, tallying 450.95 million rupees, which has contributed to the net liability position.
Cash flows from operating activities showed a positive trend with a net cash generation of 36.45 million rupees, despite investments in short-term assets resulting in a net cash outflow from investing activities of 36.68 million rupees. The cash and cash equivalents at the end of the year were recorded at 9.48 million rupees.
