First Tri-Star Modaraba Reports Profit Despite Significant Income Revaluation Impact

Karachi: The Board of Directors of A.R.T. Modaraba Management (Pvt) Limited has released the 35th Annual Report for First Tri-Star Modaraba, detailing financial performance for the year ended June 30, 2026. The report, dated October 6, 2026, outlines a notable shift from a loss position last year to a profit after taxation.

The financial results reveal a revenue of 23.08 million rupees, down from 35.57 million rupees in 2025, alongside administrative expenses of 39.24 million rupees compared to 56.78 million rupees the previous year. This results in a narrowed operational deficit of 16.15 million rupees, improving from a 19.21 million rupees deficit in 2025. Other income surged to 28.92 million rupees from 7.71 million rupees, contributing significantly to the overall financial turnaround.

Profit before taxation reached 11.65 million rupees, a recovery from a loss of 13.61 million rupees in 2025. After accounting for management fees, Sindh sales tax, and Workers' Welfare Fund, profit before levy and taxation stood at 10.11 million rupees. A levy expense of 4.51 million rupees and a taxation charge of 686,317 rupees were recorded, leading to a final profit after taxation of 4.91 million rupees, as opposed to a loss of 15.03 million rupees in the previous year.

The comprehensive income statement, however, reveals a significant deficit due to a revaluation of investments, marked at 193.84 million rupees, contrasting sharply with a surplus of 64.55 million rupees in 2025. This component, which will not be reclassified to profit or loss, resulted in an overall comprehensive loss of 188.93 million rupees, compared to a previous surplus of 49.52 million rupees.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the First Tri-Star Modaraba has reported earnings per certificate at 0.23 rupees, reflecting a substantial improvement from the negative 0.71 rupees recorded last year.

Despite these financial fluctuations, the Board has recommended no dividend distribution for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The institution continues to generate revenue through its educational venture, Imperial Tutorial College, which has recently gained accreditation from the Higher Education Commission for its HND - Fashion & Textiles program in collaboration with Pearson, UK.

The report provides insights into the financial health and strategic direction of First Tri-Star Modaraba, indicating a complex financial landscape marked by operational improvements yet offset by investment revaluation challenges.
