Karachi: In a move signaling a significant development in the energy sector, the Government of Pakistan has approved the allocation of gas from the Ghazij and Shawal discoveries in the Mari Field, located in Daharki, District Ghotki, Sindh, to Fatimafert Limited. Fatimafert Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited.
The allocation, disclosed on January 8, 2026, allows for 68 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of raw gas, which translates to 52 MMscfd of processed gas, to be directed to Fatimafert Limited's plant in Sheikhupura. This strategic allocation is set to enhance the operational capacity of the subsidiary within the designated market category of the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the raw gas will be delivered at the Mari gas field delivery point. The applicable wellhead price will be notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) at intervals. Fatimafert Limited will subsequently enter into a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement with Mari Energies Limited. Additionally, the company is tasked with arranging for the processing, compression, and transportation of the gas to its plant site through the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network, as per the Third Party Access Rules, 2018 and the Pakistan Gas Network Code.
This development requires notification to the TRE Certificate Holders of the Exchange, ensuring stakeholders are informed of the evolving dynamics within this sector.
